Protein

We hear a lot about meat and how it is a great source of protein but there is a wide variety of foods that are rich in amino acids and provide an abundant source of vegetarian protein. Protein is one of the easiest nutrients to obtain as it is sourced from a variety of foods that exist in a typical healthy diet.

Good vegetarian sources of protein

  • Soy and Soya products: Soya milk, cheese and yoghurt, tofu, tofu products and tempeh
  • Pulses: Beans, peas, lentils and peanuts and products made from these such as hummus and peanut butter
  • Cereals & whole grains: Buckwheat, quinoa, rice, oatmeal, whole-wheat flour, barley, rye, maze, polenta
  • Nuts & Seeds: Sesame, pumpkin, sunflower, linseed and products made from these such as tahini (sesame seed paste), hazel nuts, brazil nuts, almonds, cashews and walnuts and so many more
  • Dairy Products: Milk, cheese and yoghurt
  • Free range eggs
