I find it hard to imagine that some people aren’t ‘breakfast people’; how could anyone deny themselves the opportunity for a meal?! And breakfast of all meals; with offerings of… fruit, toast, eggs, PANCAKES!! And the humble bowl of porridge!!
I know I have posted a porridge recipe before but I truly love the goodness, yumminess and simplicity of the nutritious and convenient oat. Wonderful friends who stayed recently left us with a box of oats and the most perfect looking plum; so there was nothing else for it!! Sweet plum porridge with maple syrup.
Vegan, delicious and super quick!! Thanks J&T!!
Preparation Time: 3mins
Serves 1
- ½ cup rolled oats
- 1 cup rice milk
- 1 fresh juicy plum
- 1-2 tbs maple syrup
- extra rice milk to serve
Add the oats and rice milk to a small saucepan. Slowly bring to the boil. Simmer, stirring frequently for 2 minutes, remove from heat.
Add the maple syrup and mix through.
Serve in a warm bowl topped with sliced plum, extra rice milk and a little drizzle of extra maple syrup. Perfect!!

my mom has never been a “breakfast person.” I, however, completely agree with your take on the matter! haha. I basically LIVE for a delicious breakfast every morning. It’s the best meal of the day, and nothing’s better than a big warm bowl of oats :)
I’ve been dying to try plum oatmeal, too – they’re on sale this week so you’d best believe they’ll be topping my oatmeal as soon as I make it to the store! Great photo and recipe, and beautiful blog. Glad I found it!
Hi Jessica!! Thank you!! yep they don’t know what they are missing :) just checked your blog too and oh wow ‘pumpkin chia-seed yogurt pudding’ am going to be having a good rummage through your recipes!! cheers for dropping by!!
What a fun photo! I completely agree with your stance on breakfast – it’s a must! Not only am I very crabby and a drag to be around if I don’t eat breakfast, I love the taste of granolas, oatmeal, eggs, etc.
He he he there is nothing like a good breakfast to get you kick started and feeling positive about the day :)
